A Story of Faith, Restoration, and God’s Mercy

Richard Arbois is not motivated by fame, recognition, or personal success. His heart is simply to glorify Jesus Christ and help others discover the truth, hope, freedom, and love that can only be found through Him.

Richard has been walking with Jesus Christ for over 33 years. He is happily married to his wife Emily, and together they have three children, three cats, Pippy, Ethel, and Willow, and a dog named Chloe. He currently resides in Columbia, South Carolina.

Like many people, Richard knows what it feels like to struggle with drug addiction, hardship, brokenness, and adversity. For years, life was filled with pain, hardship, and the consequences of poor decisions. But everything changed in February 1992 when he surrendered his life to Jesus Christ and received the gift of salvation.

Through God’s grace, Richard has now lived drug free for over 30 years. He gives all glory to Jesus Christ for completely transforming his life. His passion today is to encourage others who may feel lost, hopeless, discouraged, or trapped in addiction to know that no one is beyond God’s mercy, healing, and redemption.

Richard’s mission is simple: to faithfully follow Jesus Christ, share the truth of God’s Word, and remind people that real freedom and lasting hope are found in Him alone.

Not long after giving his life to Jesus Christ, Richard discovered that God had blessed him with a passion and gift for music. Through the ministry of drums, he began serving on church worship teams and has faithfully played at various churches from 1992 through 2025, using his talents to glorify God and lead others into worship.

Over the years, Richard has also had a heart for serving people beyond the church walls by volunteering in outreach ministries that helped feed the homeless and care for those facing difficult times.

In addition to his ministry, Richard proudly served in the United States Army for more than 15 years, from 1997 to 2012. Throughout his military career, he and his family were stationed in different locations across the world, but no matter where the Army sent them, finding a local church and serving God always remained a priority.

Wherever life took him, Richard remained committed to serving faithfully through worship, outreach, and church ministry. Serving others and staying connected to the body of Christ has been an important part of his walk with the Lord for more than three decades.

Serving Wherever God Leads

Wherever life took him, Richard remained committed to serving faithfully through worship, outreach, and church ministry. Serving others and staying connected to the body of Christ has been an important part of his walk with the Lord for more than three decades.

Since giving his life to Jesus Christ in 1992, Richard has remained actively involved in the local church, faithfully serving through worship ministry, outreach, discipleship, and various areas of ministry. Wherever life and military service took him, finding a church home and serving God remained a priority.

Before joining the United States Army, Richard served in Spanish-speaking congregations in South Florida, including Iglesia Gloria de Dios Internacional and El Tabernáculo de Kendall in Miami, Florida.

Throughout his military career and beyond, Richard continued serving in churches across the United States, including:

  • Rivers of Living Water — Hope Mills, North Carolina (September 1998 – February 2001)
  • La Iglesia de Dios Sinai — Oahu, Hawaii (February 2001 – November 2006)
  • International Praise Church of God — Columbia, South Carolina (November 2006 – September 2010)
  • Reunion Hawaii Church — Oahu, Hawaii (June 2010 – September 2012)
  • International Praise Church of God — Columbia, South Carolina (September 2012 – October 2017)
  • Inspire Church — Oahu, Hawaii (May 2024 – July 2025)

Today, Richard continues to follow Jesus Christ with a heart fully devoted to God. He openly shares how the Lord has carried him through addiction, hardship, brokenness, and many battles in life. He is passionate to encourage others with the message that true freedom, healing, and hope are found in Jesus Christ alone. Richard believes with all his heart that Jesus still saves, restores, heals, breaks every chain and noting is too big for God to handle.

Through Richardarbois.com, he shares the Gospel passionately with clarity and compassion, in both English and Español, so that every heart can encounter the life-changing love of Christ. Above all, Richard remains fully committed to doing the will of God and glorifying Him in everything he does.

Our Beliefs

The Holy Bible.

We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is the final standard for faith, truth, and life. (Scripture: 2 Timothy 3:16–17)

God Is Our Father.

We believe God the Father is the Creator and Sustainer of all things, who lovingly adopts all who believe as His children. In Him we receive our true identity and sonship, becoming co-heirs with Christ and empowered to live out His calling for our lives. (Scripture: Romans 8:15-17, 1 John 3:1)

There Is Only One God.

We believe in one eternal God, revealed in three persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — coequal, coeternal, and inseparable in essence and glory. (Scripture: Matthew 28:19; John 10:30; Ephesians 4:4–6)

Jesus Christ The Son of God.

We believe in Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God — fully God and fully man. Through His sinless life, sacrificial death on the cross, and victorious resurrection, He redeemed us from sin and secured eternal life for all who believe. By His blood we are cleansed, forgiven, and reconciled to the Father. (Scripture: John 1:1-3, John 14:6, Colossians 1:14, Hebrews 9:22)

Death, Burial and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

We believe in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the cornerstone of our faith. According to Scripture, though He was crucified and laid in a tomb, on the third day He rose in victory, just as He promised. As recorded in Matthew 28:1–10, the risen Christ appeared to His followers, declaring triumph over sin and death. Through His resurrection, we have the assurance of eternal life and the living hope that Jesus is Lord forever. (Matthew 21:1-10)

The Holy Spirit.

We believe the Holy Spirit empowers every believer, convicts the world of sin, and equips the Church with spiritual gifts to accomplish God’s will. He produces the fruit of the Spirit in our lives and reveals His presence and power through us. (Scripture: John 14:16-17, Acts 1:8, Galatians 5:22-23, John 14:26, 16:13, 1 Corinthians 2:10-13, Romans 8:26-27)

Salvation.

We believe salvation is the free gift of God’s grace, received through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ alone. It comes by surrendering to His Lordship, trusting that He died for our sins, rose from the dead, and calls us to follow Him as true disciples. Salvation is not earned by works, but secured by the finished work of Christ on the cross. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

The Gospel of Jesus of Jesus Christ

We believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the power of God for salvation to all who believe. As declared in 1 Corinthians 15:1–4, the Gospel is the good news that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, was buried, and rose again on the third day. This message is the heart of our faith, the hope we stand on, and the truth we proclaim to the world — that through Jesus’ death and resurrection, all who believe are forgiven, redeemed, and given eternal life. (Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4)

God’s Design of Sanctity of Marriage.

We believe in the sanctity of marriage as a sacred covenant, established by God, between one man and one woman. Marriage reflects Christ’s love for the Church and is designed for companionship, faithfulness, and the blessing of family. (Genesis 2:24, Hebrews 13:4, 1 Peter 1:15-16, Proverbs 18:22)

Water Baptism.

We believe water baptism, first demonstrated when John the Baptist baptized Jesus in the Jordan River, is a God-ordained act of faith that unites the believer with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. Through baptism, we publicly declare that the old life has been washed away, we are clothed in His righteousness, and we testify to the new birth accomplished by the Holy Spirit.(Romans 6:4, Matthew 3:13-17, 28:19-20, 1 Peter 1:15-16, Proverbs 18:22)

The Church.

We believe the Church is the body of Christ, called to worship, disciple, and proclaim the Gospel to the world. (Ephesians 4:11–13)

Sanctification.

We believe sanctification is the work of God’s grace, made possible through the finished work of Jesus Christ and applied by the Holy Spirit. Following regeneration, believers are called to be sanctified wholly — set apart from sin and consecrated to God. Through faith in Christ, we are continually transformed into His likeness, empowered to live in holiness, and equipped to fulfill His purposes. Sanctification is both a decisive act of God at salvation and a lifelong journey of growing in obedience and Christlike character. (Romans 12:1-2, 12, Leviticus 20:7-8, Ephesians 4:11–13)

Eternity With Christ.

We believe that for every believer in Jesus Christ, death is not the end but the doorway into eternal life with Him. When a Christian dies, they enter the presence of the Lord in heaven — the place Jesus Himself has prepared for us. Heaven is a real and glorious home where we will dwell with God forever, free from pain, sorrow, and death. There, we will rejoice in His presence, worship the Lamb, and share in the eternal joy and peace of His Kingdom. (John 14:1-3, )

Fall of Mankind.

We believe that mankind, created in God’s image, fell through sin and became separated from Him. Because of Adam’s disobedience, all people are born with a fallen nature, inclined toward sin and rebellion against God. Left to ourselves, we are powerless to overcome this condition, for the heart is bent toward evil continually. Only through the grace of God and the redemptive work of Jesus Christ can humanity be restored, forgiven, and reconciled back to God. (Genesis 3, Romans 3:22, 5:12-21, 1 Corinthians 15:21-22, Ephesians 2:1-3)
